A Haiku I wrote about soccer, it sums up why they call the sport, "The Beautiful game"
Breathtaking moments
Only soccer can provide
A beautiful game
In this Haiku I decided to try and take the best moments of soccer. The ones that after seeing them, you have to do a double take to make sure that it actually happened. For example when Fabio Grosso scored the last penalty for Italy in the 2006 World Cup final, a breathtaking moment which left me speechless. It's these breathtaking moments which inspire people from around the world to play soccer, whether they be kids, professionals, or middle-aged adults with some free time. The beautiful game inspires generations to continue playing the sport, and it has inspired me to write this Haiku.
I like it niccolo. Very concise and clear so the reader knows how exhilarating soccer is. BTW aren't haikus based on Nature. you could add if you wanted to like something about the fresh air blowing through messi's hair. Hey that rhymes!!! keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteNice choice of first poem Nic. Easy to read and very clear on the beauty of soccer. While I may have to agree with Chad about Haikus and nature, I'm sure soccer is part of human nature! Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteNiccolo,
ReplyDeleteThis is a really interesting interpretation of a haiku, even if it’s not based on nature. This is definitely what poetry is about: expression. Great work and good call writing about what you love! Good luck!
Even though this wasnt about nature i thought it was really good. Iliked how you never actually mentioned a exact moment because that leaves it open to the reader. My moment i thought of was when the player from ghana missed the penalty kick. good job
ReplyDeleteI liked the haiku Niccolo! Even though it was short, you really could feel your passion for soccer through this poem. This poem reminds me of the time that you scored two goals in one of your soccer games, tying it up to 3-3 and making sure your team didn't leave with a loss.
ReplyDeleteThe picture goes very well with the poem. Every time a player scores, it is breathtaking to watch their celebration. Truly only soccer can provide these breathtaking moments. This poem, although short, has a lot of passion. good job!
ReplyDeleteGreat haiku Niccolo. It's short and to the point, which is ironic considering the subject matter. Jokes aside, you did a good job. Also, your blog is well designed. Have you done this before?
ReplyDeleteI really like your poem even though I do not share the same passionate love of soccer that you do. But I could feel your love of the game through this short piece. I found this haiku very relatable because I know that feeling that only sports can provide. I laughed at "middle age with spare time". haha anyways.. looking forward to reading your future material!
ReplyDeleteVery nice poem.It gets right to the point and sells the idea that soccer is a beautiful sport. Not that I disagree...
ReplyDeleteI like the path you took and showed your passion for football/soccer. I look forward to seeing what else you have in store for this well designed blog. Excellent job!
This haiku is simple and clear, great job on picking it! The photo makes a great accompanyment to a short poem. WORLD CUP FEVER!111!!!!!1!!!
ReplyDeleteVery effective poem, good choice for a haiku. Quite the blog you have going on here, almost looks professional. Nice theme choice as well. Oh, and nice poem.
ReplyDeleteHi Niccolo,
ReplyDeleteI agree with Stephen Edwards, this poem really is effective. And in only a few words, you have already illustrated vividly the joys that soccer brings. I'm sure it is a "beautiful game" and is "breathtaking". Also, the picture you posted really helps demonstrate the excitement and thrill that comes with this game. Great Work! :)
Hey Niccolo,
ReplyDeleteI like this poem. It's short and simple and it works. I like your descriptions and it shows your passion for the sport. And although like others, I do not share your particular love for soccer, good poetry can always be appreciated, and this is good poetry. Great work!
